My thoughts on this Psalmes doctrine has beene that it would be the beleeuers that would be purified.
another Schoolemaster of thought possible.

And obviously, the believers purified seven times (v.6) are the same believers preserved (v.7)?

Psalm 12:6 The wordes of the Lord are pure wordes: as siluer tried in a fornace of earth purified seuen times.
