Our town has a First Friday event each month where we can set up a table and display to promote our church. Does anyone have any good ideas or links for how we could draw folks to our table? They seem to like the food treats and freebie pencils and bookmarks. We have a large selection of Gospel tracts, too. Some of our folks walk the streets, passing out tracts, while others man the table. I'm just looking for something eyecatching that others may have used at fairs or street work. We are a small church and are limited with help and resources, but I'm ready to build whatever, make whatever, display whatever will get the attention of the lost. Ideas are appreciated.

Howdy -- I don't know but what if you had some puppies or little baby ducks? :P
kids and adults love to gather around little animals like that, then you could give them tracts. I was also thinking about mini cupcakes or snow cones or some other kind of inexpensive snacks but you already had that idea.

Maybe a free poster with a great photo and a Bible verse and a calendar at the bottom with your church name and logo on it? That way they might keep it all year long, something like this ---->

Thank you for the replies and the ideas. Armed with ideas, I am now looking for materials for visual displays. I've made up Scripture signs for the children to hold, and I'm making a visual display of a poem I wrote about the three crosses. When I get a moment I will post the poem and visual if anyone is interested in using it for Sunday school, nursing home, or whatever. I've even shortened the poem for use on cardstock to make a bookmark.

REJECTOR, RECEIVER, REDEEMER

On a hill outside of Jerusalem’s gate
Stood 3 rugged crosses, fashioned by hate.
Upon these rough crosses, so cruelly condemned
In anguish and suffering, hung 3 different men.
These 3 colored R’s each a man to signify
Listen to my story, and then you’ll see why.

The first of these men, an awful antagonist
Roared and railed and clenched his fist
He cursed at the man on the middle cross
And for his rejection, he is eternally lost
He is the rejector with a sin blackened heart
Without Christ’s forgiveness, into hell to depart.

The next man full of sin, hung his head in shame
Realizing his state, He called the Lord by name
He acknowledged his sins and when confession was done
Said “Lord remember me when into your Kingdom you come”.
He is the receiver, this white R represents
A clean heart made pure when a sinner repents.

The man in the middle, I’m sure you must know
Was the Lord Jesus Christ , and to Calvary He did go,
to pay for the sin debt of all of mankind
And by accepting the Savior, forgiveness you’ll find.
He is the Redeemer and full payment was made,
Acknowledge your sins, call on Him and your sin debt will be
paid.

This red R is for the blood from the Savior, a precious flow
Without it neither forgiveness nor Heaven you’ll know.
But if you repent and accept the Lord’s sacrifice
Like the penitent thief, you’ll spend eternity in Paradise.
So examine these R’s and their story so true,
And decide for yourself, which one represents YOU.

Tried to upload the photo, but can't get it to work. Slow internet connection. It is a picture of three wooden crosses, each with a wooden R, red white or black, for each person in the poem. I've used this visual at the nursing home and also made cardboard ones for Sunday school kids.

I don't know how this would work for a street fair but a preacher once told me of how they would set up a tent at a fair and call it the "Oasis". They had tables set up in the tent behind the front table and folks would come in and sit down. When they brought them something to drink they would start talking with them.

I don't know how much drink they went through but it had to be a lot being free.

A display to test your bible knowledge.
If you have electricity and can find someone with electrical knowledge, they coould wire a red and green light mounted to the top of display to indicate "right" or "wrong" answer. Battery power will also work.
Then you have several questions in regard to salvation with a "yes" or "no" switch under the question. Example: #1. Is baptism necessary for salvation? If they say "yes", then the red light comes on indicationg a "wrong" answer. You can give a corrected verbal explanation of why their answer was wrong according to the scripture. #2. Is church membership necessary for salvation? #3. Is speaking in tongues an evidence of being filled with the Holy Ghost? #4. If your good works out weigh your bad works, will you go to heaven? ETC....

Great idea, Br. David. Summer time is near, so fair time is right around the corner.
